Here, there, everythere

Visit any website these days - be it social networking, news, op-eds, blogs - there is common denominator in all of them - a sense of outrage

We are outraging against anything and everything under the sun. Be it corrupt government, the mafia, the politicians, the municipality, cable-wala, kirana-shopowner, the guy who didn't offer you seat in bus, the girl who refused to smile back at you, the auto-wala who refused to ply to the place you wanted to go to, and on and on..

What goes missing under all this outrage is concrete action. We're okay, more than willing actually, to convey how we felt about it. But what're we doing for it? Nothing more than outraging. We have never given a thought about doing anything more than just outraging

Frankly speaking, we don't know what all we can do besides outraging. All our lives, we've seen people outraging and doing nothing more than that. So much so that we're full of opinion about even those things we don't have a clue for. A classic example would be retirement of Sachin.
Some part of nation wanted him to retire, rest wanted him to continue playing. The proportion changed depending on runs on the scoreboard. Post his retirement, the bhadra-purush are at loggerheads over if  he should have waited for one more series, or another world cup.

But, this is the time to train ourselves to make a little progress beyond just outraging. We need to think about some action so that we don't need to outrage again.
Hate the government? Vote against and make sure they don't come back in power.
Hate the municipality? File a RTI and ask about the un-repaired pothole.
Hate the cable-wala? Get a DTH connection.
Hate the auto-wala? File a complaint at RTO.
Hate the guy who didn't offer you a seat? Ask him, may be.
Hate the girl who didn't smile back at you? Well, guys, we just have to live with it. Sucks, but yeah.

For a change, DO SOMETHING!
